Project overview
The company’s business model and the former website were developed separately. The inappropriate design of the system caused several issues around the whole experience. The desired outcome of the project was a new redesigned responsive website which is suited for the given business model and flexible enough to meet the requirements posted by the potential upcoming partnerships. The new look and feel of the site required a whole new information architecture, new navigation, different process flows and a modern visual appearance.
My work started with digging deep in the statistics of the former website and analyzing the recorded user behavior based on the data and an extensive competitor alnalysis focusing on the market leaders.
After I understood the problems of the users and the stakeholders I was able to start working on the solutions. I sketched out my ideas, created a few interactive wireframes. My clients and their stakeholders were happy with the proposed solution, so I made prototypes to validate my solutions with the users.
My clients were archived all the feedback that arrived to their support team so I was able to reach out for users who had trouble with the previous system and I organised a few usability sessions with them.
When I got my solutions validated I started to work on the new visual design and a documentation for the developers.
Account Management
The former system had different pages to show certain types of information and other pages to edit them. I united all on one single dashboard on which registered users can edit their information, check previous orders and make changes on new orders that are not yet closed. The new account management has been proved to be simple, understandable and easy-to-use.
Product Page
The improvements on the new product page were based on data about users’ behaviour from Google Analytics and user feedback received by the support team during the previous years and were validated by users before development. One of the best upcoming features is the “Watch List”. With the help of this feature, the users will be able to sign up for status updates of products that they are interested in.
Checkout Page
I designed a one-page checkout solutions because it proved to be much more comfortable to the users as all the required information are visible for them up front. It makes easier for them to estimate the time and effort needed to complete the checkout. I focused on keeping the checkout page as clear and simple as possible. By increasing transparency and the level of comfort and making the process quicker and easier I was able to increase the number of selling.
